Canon Technical Support – How To Change The Ink Cartridge?

Here are the steps for loading a new ink cartridge to your printer:

Step 1

For accessing the ink cartridges, place your hand below the top panel, and lift it up.

Step 2

Check for the status light by opening the access door. If you find them off,  then it’s time for changing the ink cartridges.

Step 3

To remove the cartridge from its slot, push the tab in front of the cartridge, and lift it out (don’t slide out).

Step 4

Shake the new ink cartridge before opening its inner wrapping. Shake it gently from side to side.

Step 5

Remove the inner wrapping of the cartridge as well as the tape covering the metal contact. If a plastic cap is also present, the twist it off.

Step 6

While inserting the new cartridge, make sure that metal contacts are facing the inside of the slot, and the tab for release a cartridge must face towards you.  The moment it fits correctly, you will hear a snap, and the status light will turn on.

Step 7

Finally, close the access door, and wait for the indicator light to go ON.
